Off Sides: A YA Adult

Page under construction.

Off Sides is the tentative title to my latest writing endeavor. It is a young-adult novel that centers around the life of sixteen-year-old Libby McBride (Elle Fanning) and her love for high school football. It will showcase her navigating her junior year at high school, saving a dysfunctional but life-long friendship, football, and much more. This story is only in its baby stages (two chapters), so there are many details I still need to hash out. What I do know is that it will be a coming-of-age novel in which many lessons are learned and bridges are burned.

CAST OF CHARACTERS

Elle Fanning as Libby McBride.

(Note: I know Elle is a tad bit younger than my main character, but I think she hits all the marks that are most important to me. Libby is youthful, outgoing, and has a bit of a retro look to her wardrobe. She  loves high school football, and loves vintage fashion.  She is also known as a pop culture connoisseur.

Taylor Kitsch as Boone McBride.

Early in the novel, Libby compares her brother to Ronnie Bass "Sunshine" from Remember The Titans. This is because he has long, blond hair. I think Kitsch encompasses Boone perfectly. The shaggy, long hair. The rippling muscles. And he has that All American jock look to him. Boone is extremely popular as he is the quarterback for the Fair Isle Falcon's. This is his senior year.

Lily Cole as Carrie Bloomwood

Carrie Bloomwood is a fiery, short-tempered redhead. She is obsessed with the arts, and takes drama club very seriously. She has a very fashion-forward look, and she aspires to be an A List celebrity actress one day. Notes: hates football (and pretty much every sport), always rehearsing plays and practicing her craft. Known for being cold, distant, and unapproachable.
